Meet Your Alumni Coordinators

You may see their friendly faces on campus or receive a check-in text (or two… or three...) from them, but know that they’re always here for you. Learn more about them below!

Danielle Mares

In 2023, Danielle started working as the Alumni Counselor at USC Hybrid High College Prep. She does, however, hold the distinction of being the first alumni to hold this title, lengthening her tenure with Ednovate. Danielle is honored  to give back to the South Central Los Angeles neighborhood where she was born and raised. Danielle graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Psychology. By assisting our students in succeeding in their postsecondary pathway, she hopes to make a positive multigenerational change with the help of her education and her career.  Please feel free to contact her at dmares@uschybridhigh.org.

richard gonzales

Richard Gonzales joined the Ednovate family in 2021 supporting both East and Legacy College Prep. Richard is a Hollywood native and loves Los Angeles. He is a first-generation college graduate on a mission to serve his community. Richard earned his B.A. in Anthropology and minor in Religious Studies from California State University, Fullerton. He has worked with LAUSD, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools and multiple Upward Bound programs prior to joining Ednovate. Fernando curiel

Fernando joined the Ednovate family in July 2023 supporting Brio College Prep Alumni. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Compton, he is passionate about supporting the youth in communities similar to his. Fernando is a first-generation college graduate who earned his B.A in Sociology and minors in Education Studies and Chicana/o & Central American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has worked for K-12 schools and a retention project at his undergrad university prior to joining Ednovate as the Alumni Counselor at Brio. laurie ugalde

Laurie joined the Esperanza family in 2018. Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Laurie transferred from Pasadena City College to the University of California, Riverside, where she obtained her B.S in Psychology and Education. Laurie is currently attending USC working on her Master's in Educational Counseling. She uses her higher education experience to support all students.
