Ednovate Featured in a New National Report on Life After High School — Here’s What It Means

At Ednovate, our mission is to create Positive Multigenerational Change. We believe that begins by providing a high school experience that prepares young people to thrive and live the lives they want to live. Graduation day is an important milestone, but we are equally as invested in what happens after students walk across the stage and step into their lives as young adults.

That is why we are proud to be featured in a new national report, Turning the Tassel: What Gen Z Says About Life After High School Graduation, written by Agency, Inc. and based on their national survey of 5,000 high school students conducted by The Harris Poll. This report takes a deeper look at life outcomes for young adults within the first decade after high school, including employment, earnings, postsecondary completion, homeownership and civic engagement.

The report It is an honor to see our network held up as an examplar of what charter schools can achieve.  The report finds that 49% of all recent graduates are working full-time. By contrast, 66% of Ednovate graduates report having secured strong early-career jobs.

Also, according to the report, charter school alumni are earning an average of $22,000 more per year than their peers who graduated from district-run schools. In addition, they are also more likely to earn college degrees, own their own homes and have jobs with benefits. This is what Positive Multigenerational Change looks like. Nationally, among charter school alumni who are Black, Latino, Pacific Islander or Native American, outcomes are even more exceptional. On average, these students earn $55,000 more than their peers who did not attend a charter school. These findings are remarkable, and provide a positive proof point that a model like ours works. Our approach is grounded in a simple belief. When students experience academic rigor, personalized support and a true sense of belonging, they not only get to college, they make it through, and they are able to achieve their most ambitious dreams. Persistence is not an aspiration at Ednovate. It is an expectation.

That commitment is especially important for the students we serve. Many are first-generation college students.  and many are English learners or receive special education services. Where others see challenges, we see opportunity. Our work is rooted in ensuring every student has access to opportunity and the support needed to succeed.

That is why our work does not end at graduation. Through ongoing advising, mentorship and college success support, we stay connected to our alumni as they navigate the next phase of their lives.

We are honored to see our work reflected in this national report. More importantly, we remain committed to ensuring that every student we serve is prepared not just to graduate, but to thrive.
